Our Corfu itinerary departs from Gouvia Marina, fully equipped with a swimming pool, attractive tavernas and supermarkets, perfectly situated for the start of your weeklong adventure. Nearby, the UNESCO listed old town of Kerkyra is a charming reminder of the colonial history of this island, complete with winding cobbled streets, ancient stone walls and pastel window shutters.
Situated on the affluent north coast, the popular horseshoe bay of Kassiopi is relaxed by day, perfect for enjoying a relaxed lunch and dreamy warm waters of the Ionian. In the afternoon the picturesque shore offers the opportunity for exploration amongst the orange roofed villas, or head to the hilltop Venetian castle. At night the twinkling lights of the town beckon guests to enjoy the bounty of the sea, with fresh seafood and local flavours.
With generous rainfall throughout the winter, the Ionian is a lush, verdant paradise featuring endless olive groves, pine forests and crystal-clear waters with sparkling white beaches. Just off the coast of Sivota town you can find blue lagoons, a great option for a breath-taking afternoon swim stop. The west facing main village offers an idyllic tavern-lined promenade and a stunning sunset.
Parga has been described as the most beautiful village in the Ionian, with two crystal clear bays either side of the main town and a Venetian castle forming an impressive backdrop. With numerous beach side cafes and a variety of water sports the large bay west of town this is the ideal spot to drop anchor and laze away the afternoon, before making your way to town for a traditional Greek feast.
Until recently Paxos was best known for its excellent olive oil, rumoured to be one of the top varieties in the world. The beauty of this idyllic island lies in the secluded coves and beaches that have escaped the attention of the tourist crowds – with exploration via bicycle or scooter the best way to discover these hidden gems. Relying on the local fishing boats in the harbour for the catch of the day, the taverna’s dish up fresh seafood, cooked to perfection in the traditional style.
A true hidden gem, the tiny island of Antipaxos will be a once in a lifetime experience. Explore the white beaches and shallow waters by day, and anchor under the stars at night to admire the sparkling night sky from the deck of your yacht.
Studded with secluded bays and sea caves, this part of Paxos Island is an explorer’s dream. Lakka is home to a small but vibrant village, with the shallow waters known as a diving hot spot for those keen to discover the underwater marvels of the Ionian Sea.
We had a fabulous time on the catamaran Bowroling. Jack and Buffy were very attentive and happy to tailor the tour the needs of us and other passengers. Buffy is an excellent cook. The boat is well appointed, including the cabins. There was plenty of food and drink included and we were able to take our own aboard. On arrival we were able to text Buffy who met us at the entrance to the marina. This is not a criticism but it would be good if there was some sort of marker to identify the company Yacht Getaways. It would make it easier to locate people. Overall I would highly recommend this tour.
It was a lot of fun and an amazing experience that I would do again. Both annie and sven were great and went above and beyond to accommodate us in every way possible. Loved it !
